Mircea M. Ionescu 
Born in Bucharest in 1945, a graduate in philosophy from the Bucharest University in 1969, Mircea M. Ionescu is one of the leading Romanian dramatists. His is not an everyday biography - he worked as a sports journalist, sportscaster for the Romanian Radio and TV, cab-driver in New York, editor of a sports magazine and he is the author of over 20 published books; he started playwriting as early as 1979; his plays, performed in Romania, but also in Austria, Bulgaria, Moldavia, Sweden and the USA, have been awarded major prizes. At present, Mircea M. Ionescu is the manager of the theatre "Tudor Vianu" in Giurgiu, Romania.
