*weyd- radacina proto-indo-europeana (PIE) a cuvintelor a vedea, a sti; deoarece PIE nu este o limba atestata direct, toate sunetele si cuvintele au fost reconstruite prin lingvistica istorica, folosind metoda comparativa. Multe din cuvintele limbilor indo-europene moderne sunt derivate din aceste proto-cuvinte prin schimbari fonetice.

*weyd- the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) root of the words to see, to know; since there is no direct attestation of PIE, all sounds and words have been reconstructed using historical linguistics and the comparative method. A lot of words in modern Indo-European languages are derived from these root words through sound changes.
